Explanation of Purpose

Why are you doing this?

I am doing this for a couple of reasons:

1) I understand the apprehension behind using a random script made by a user who is very likely not known to many people

2) To demonstrate the sheer number of bots created for hate raids/IP tagging purposes.

Do you have nothing better to do?

Honestly, not really. I work full-time, obviously, but I actually don't do much at the weekends. I'm incredibly fast at data entry and I have a bit of a justice boner and an interest in cyber security. For me, this is a productive use of my time and makes me feel as though I can offer just a little something to help.

What are you getting out of this?

*shrug* I'm not rotting my brain on social media for a few hours at least.

Are you going to get a proper domain name? This URL kinda sucks.

Fuck am I paying for a domain name again, I did that one in my early 20s.

Aren't there other lists out there of bot names?

There are! I've not seen that they've been recently maintained though, and I'd like to keep this as up-to-date as I can.

I have another page where you can find automated ways to deal with these bots. How you choose to tackle them is completely up to you - whether that be with your own bot, another stream bot or manual banning. I want this to be a resource to look into any and all options

It's absolutely your choice on which resources you use to clear bots from your streams. Mine is simply another in the mix.

Should I go to the profile of suspected bots to verify that they aren't human?

No. They (the hoss ones specifically) have been claimed to grab your IP address and threaten to hold it to ransom, which really they can't do a huge amount with because if you have a dynamic IP address (normally the default setting but feel free to go into your network settings to check) you can just reset your router. They also can't get a whole lot of data they can use against you through your public IP address (they can, however, doxx you and reveal your location - which could lead to problems with actual people using the information). Anything else they can grab is already accessible info about your device.

If you have gone on a profile, I wouldn't worry too much. Just reset your IP address. Or get a no-log VPN if you can afford one.

I think your information is bunk and you're wrong about something you've said.

Hey, I don't claim to be the most knowledgable person on cyber security ever! I'm a hobbyist with a justice boner. You can feel free to let me know if you think I'm wrong and I will happily double check. My main thing with the info I'm dumping is to alleviate strong worries but keep realistic expectations in mind. Also just to help the community where I feel I can be useful until Twitch actually implements some safeguarding protocol.

How can I contact you with more bot names or to correct you on something?

I'll put a Contact Me box somewhere. Please only use it for info collation. I very likely will not respond directly, but I will see that I review messages that I get and add anything of use - if you would like to be credited I can do that.

I sent in some names but you haven't posted all of them/How do you ensure you don't duplicate names?

I have a spreadsheet (very advanced of me, I know) where I chuck in all the names and in another column the unique entries are churned out. Once I've posted names up, I strike through the text. I tried a vlookup but they honestly hate me so I do this archaic fuckin bullshit.

Anyway, if I don't post all your submitted names or don't post any at all it's because it's already on the site - though I really don't mind double checking! I'd much prefer you sent me duplicates than hold back and I miss them entirely.

I really like this idea and want to donate in support. How can I do this?

Sub to your favourite streamer, or my favourite, HellionCait.
